Pelourinho is the name of a region of Salvador, located in the Historic Center of the City. Considered Heritage by UNESCO, the neighborhood in the Upper City, has over 800 houses of 17th and 18th centuries.
Alleys, hills and broad focus churches, museums, restaurants, shops and a shuttle people from Salvador, Brazil and the world. The name refers to a stone pillar located in the center of a square, where criminals were punished. In colonial Brazil, it was used to punish slaves.
